Sir Bills knock off #2 Seed Ravena to advance to the Semifinals

The (10) Johnstown Sir Bills knocked off (2) Ravena, 14-12 on Saturday afternoon in Ravena, NY. The win will place the Sir Bills in the Semifinals of the Section II Class B Tournament. Colin Lombardoni led the Sir Bills at the plate. He went 2-for-3 with five runs batted in, two runs score and recorded his first home run of the season. Jordan Hill helped out, he went 1-for-3 with three runs batted in, two runs scored and hit his second home run of the season.

Johnstown got on the board first with one run in the top of the first on a RBI double by Wesley Clark.

Ravena answered with one run in the bottom of the first on a RBI double by Nolan.

The Sir Bills took a 2-1 lead with one run in the top of the third on a RBI single by Jason Biron.

The Indians took the lead back with three runs in the bottom of the third. Deering doubled in the first run. Moyt's sacrifice fly to left field knocked in the second run and the last run came in on a RBI double by Synder.

Johnstown bounced back with four runs in the top of the fourth to take a 6-4 lead. Lombardoni came up with bases loaded and hit his first home run of the season.

The Sir Bills added three more runs in the top of the fifth on a three-run home run by Hill.

Ravena made the score, 9-7 with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Frueit singeld in the first run. Alberts knocked in teh next two runs with a single.

The Indians tied the game at 9-9 with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Nolan doubled in the first run. Nolan later stole third and scored on an error by the shortstop.

Johnstown took a 14-9 lead with five runs in the top of the seventh. Lombardoni singled in the first run, scoring Trevor Bruce. Jake Arunnategui singled in the second run of the inning. The third run came in on a RBI single by Jason Biron. Ryan Brown knocked in the last run on the inning with a single.

Ravena was able to push three runs across the plate in the bottom of the seventh but came up two runs short from tying the game.

Once again the Sir Bills are able to hold off a last inning rally by an opposing team to hang on to victory.

The (10) Sir Bills return to action on Wednesday, June 4th when they will play (3) Granville in a Semifinal match-up in the Section II Class B Tournament. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Bleeker Stadium.
