Gloversville hands Johnstown a 5-4 loss in the Championship game

The Gloversville Huskies handed the Johnstown Sir Bills a 5-4 loss in the Foothills Council Championship game in Gloversville, NY on Monday night. Casey Rivera led the Sir Bills at the plate. He went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and one run scored. Ryan Brown helped out, he went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two walks.

With the loss, the Sir Bills fall to 10-10 overall on the season.

The Sir Bills got on the board first with two runs in the top of the third. Brown led off the inning with a double. Rivera then tripled, scoring Brown. Rivera came into score on a pass ball by the Huskies catcher.

Johnstown went up 3-0 with one run in the top of the fourth on a RBI single by Rivera, scoring Brown.

The Huskies made the score 3-2 with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. The two runs came in on a two out home run by LaPorta.

Gloversville took a 5-3 lead with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. R. McCloskey started things off with two-out triple. Lefever hit a bases loaded single to plate the first two runs. The last run came in on a RBI single by Wells.

The Sir Bills made a run in the top of the seventh but were only able to get one run across the plate on a RBI ground out to shortstop by Colin Combardoni.

The Sir Bills return to action on Thursday, May 22nd as they play host to Cobleskill-Richmondville. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
