The Sir Bills win their first game of the Foothills Tournament

The Johnstown Sir Bills (4) defeat the Queensbury Spartans (5), 15-14 on Wednesday afternoon in Johnstown, NY. The game was the first of the Foothills Council Tournament. Ryan Brown led the Sir Bills at the plate. He went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in, two runs scored and one stolen base. Jason Biron also helped out, he went 1-for-2 with three runs scored, two runs batted in and one stolen base.

The Sir Bills improve it record to 9-9 overall. The Spartans fall to 7-8 overall.

Queensbury struck first with three runs in the top of the first. Varney knocked in the first run on a RBI single. Deuel scored the second home when he advanced home when his teammate was caught trying to steal second. The last run came in when #32 reached on an error by the second baseman.

Johnstown got on the board in the bottom of the first with one run on a RBI sacrifice fly to right field by Casey Rivera.

The Spartans took a 4-1 lead with one run in the top of the second on a RBI single by Hughes.

The Sir Bills took a 6-4 lead with five runs in the bottom of the second. Dylan Fries scored the first run on an error by the second baseman. Biron singled in the next run. Trevor Bruce doubled in the third and fourth runs. Craig Cook knocked in the last run on a RBI single.

Queensbury pulled within one run, 6-5 with one run in the top of the third on a RBI single by Hughes.

Johnstown answered with two runs in the bottom of the third when Wesley Clark hit a two RBI double.

The Sir Bills took a 9-5 lead with one run in the bottom of the fourth when Jake Arunnategui stole third base and then scored on the throwing error by the catcher.

The Spartans made the score 9-7 lead with two runs in the top of the fifth. Hughes walked with the bases loaded to bring in the first run. Deuel singled in the second run.

Queensbury took a 12-9 lead with five runs in the top of the sixth. Clear doubled in the first run. #5 knocked in the second run with a triple and then came into score on a wild pitch. Varney singled in the last two runs of the inning.

Johnstown regained the lead, 13-12 with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Biron knocked in the first run on a RBI sacrifice fly to right field. Brown then doubled in the second and third runs. Rivera sinlged in the last run of the inning.

The Spartans took a 14-13 lead in the top of the seventh with two runs. Clear hit a sacrifice fly to left field to knock in the first run. The second run came in on a RBI single by #5.

The Sir Bills was able to win the game in the bottom of the seventh with two runs on back-to-back-to-back one out doubles. Cook hit the first double and came around to score on a double by Jordan Hill. Hill scored on a walk-off double by Colin Lombardoni.

The Sir Bills return to action on Thursday, May 15th when they will travel to play the South Glens Falls Bulldogs (1). Game time is slated for 4:15 p.m.
